We use this very unique and delicate thermometer to gauge the precise temperature for wax grounds. To start, let the plate sit on the preheated hotplate for about 5 minutes to warm up. The surface of the hotplate should be approximately 175 degrees Fahrenheit for the hard ground, 140 degrees for the soft ground. Use a surface temperature gauge to judge the heat. Excess heat will fry your ground and create tiny open pinpoints that will cause foul biting.
