Charbonnel Lamor Soft Black Ground (20 ml jar)
Soft ground is essentially beeswax with petroleum jelly with a small amount of rosin and/or asphaltum. Our favorite comes in a small jar. It is golden and loose when melted; it is sensitive to disturbance when cooled. We use Charbonnel for soft ground because it is supple and non-drying. It is great for producing soft lines and textured surfaces. Soft ground is so sensitive that you can press found materials, such as leaves, into the ground and record their texture. It is so extremely delicate that you can even record your fingerprint onto the surface of the plate. Soft ground is applied to your plate in the same manner as hard ground.
